Brittany Markert is a New Orleans–based photographer, filmmaker, and darkroom printer whose psychologically charged images explore the unconscious, transformation, and the interior world. Working primarily with analog photography, she has spent more than a decade developing an intentional, experimental approach to image-making through lighting, staged environments, multiple exposure, movement, and in-camera effects.
Her teaching emphasizes curiosity, patience, and purposeful experimentation. Rather than treating photographic effects as tricks, Brittany guides students in using technique to create atmosphere, symbolism, and emotional meaning. Participants are encouraged to slow down, work intuitively, and consider not only how an image is made, but why each creative decision belongs within it.
With a small class size, Brittany offers attentive, one-on-one guidance while helping each photographer strengthen their technical confidence and develop a more distinct visual language.
